In the narrow confines of the upper reaches of North Clear Creek Canyon, Black Hawk, Colorado had limited space for expansion. With the exception of the gold and silver mills there, homes and businesses took on a pocket-sized efficiency, making the most of available space. The Black Hawk Warehouse was one of these. Little is known about its history, or what business it handled, but the possibilities are endless. Served by a Colorado Central (later Colorado & Southern) railroad siding, there is some evidence that it once shipped mine timbers up and down the Clear Creek mining district and beyond. Food, hardware, even dry goods might well have been warehoused there before being distributed to businesses in Black Hawk and Central City. With the changing times and fortunes of the region, it is likely the little warehouse and loading dock served a variety of owners. With its compact size, the model, like the prototype, has equally unlimited possibilities.

We have included many options for this kit. We used Harry’s drawings as the base for this kit, then expanded it with ideas based on the actual model he built on his layout. We added an extension platform so that there is more track side exposure and functionality.
Harry also had a small boiler/pump house near the warehouse that we thought would make for a great additional out building that can be used with this structure or another on your layout.
The battens are separate pieces so you have the option of aesthetics. Interior and exterior detail parts add even more options and character.
